Holiday Vacation Homework Begins Tonight, 12/22/14

Math Holiday Homework Packets were distributed today in class.  Students may begin working on them tonight.  I ran into the same issue with this packet as I did with the Thanksgiving Recess packet, so once again I apologize, the packet will not be available online.  I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday and I will see you in the new year.

June 18 is Middle School Visit Day

June 18 will be when Mr. Hostash's and Mrs. Richards' classes will be visiting the middle school to get a small taste of what life will be like in the middle school.  They will get to practice opening a locker, see that 3 minutes is actually a long time to switch classes, meet Mr. Reeve the middle school principal and possibly other sixth grade staff members.  Don't forget to ask them about their experience!

Tomorrow, June 11, is Grade Five Career Day!

Tomorrow there will be 14 presenters here to talk about their careers and how they got to where they are today.  All of the presenters have a local tie, many of them are actually Greenville Graduates!  Each student will be able to see 4 of the presentations based on their own areas of interest.  The presenters range from contractors to newspaper editors and even a bee keeper!  Be sure to ask your child about what they learned.

Topics in Social Studies

Today we started talking about Latin America and the major areas that make up Latin America: Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.  We will be learning about Latin America for the foreseeable future.

Topics in Science

We have started talking about Simple Machines in Science and have discussed what an important role they play in our everyday lives.  We will be studying simple machines for about 2 weeks.
